    Dagpenger (daily unemployment benefit) is Norway's unemployment insurance, administered by NAV (Arbeids- og velferdsetaten). In 2026, you receive 62.4% of your previous income, with a maximum of NOK 721,000/year (6G, where G=NOK 124,028 — the National Insurance base amount).

    To qualify, you must have had income of at least 1.5G (NOK 186,042) in the last 12 months, or 3G in the last 3 years. Benefits last up to 104 weeks (2 years) depending on previous income level. Register at nav.no.

  • How to apply for housing benefit (Bostøtte) in Norway?

    Bostøtte (housing benefit) is administered by Husbanken and the municipalities. In 2026, the maximum monthly benefit is approximately NOK 4,200. To qualify, your income must be below NOK 246,000/year for a single person, and your housing costs must be within defined limits.
