Study in France from Sri Lanka: visa, fees and funding

Sri Lanka does not appear on the list of 75 countries and territories concerned by the Etudes en France procedure, so candidates apply directly to French institutions instead of using the platform. After admission, the student requests a long-stay visa, the VLS-TS, which is issued for four months to one year and validated online after arrival in France. Non-EU first-time entrants pay differentiated registration fees of 2,902 euros at licence level and 3,950 euros at master level for 2026-2027, against 178 and 255 euros at the national rate; exemptions are possible, doctorates pay 398 euros and the CVEC contribution is 105 euros. The Campus France office in Colombo publishes the scholarship programmes open to Sri Lankan students, including the France Excellence Eiffel programme. The French embassy in Colombo handles the visa steps for students based in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
