Study in France from the USA: visa, fees and scholarships

US students must use the Campus France procedure: for any stay of 90 days or more you file an Études en France application with Campus France USA, then apply for the long-stay student visa (VLS-TS) on France-Visas and attend an in-person appointment at a TLS visa centre. Expect differentiated tuition at public universities, 2,902 euros a year in licence and 3,950 euros in master for 2026-2027, unless your school grants an exemption; the national rates are 178 and 255 euros, and doctorates pay 398 euros. Scholarships can change the maths: the Franco-American Fulbright Commission funds study and research grants for US citizens, and the French Embassy's Lafayette Fellowship supports selected US students in master's programmes. Campus France's directory also lists programmes taught fully in English, so strong French is not always required.
